I did this side-by-side comparison of my health and wellness journey and let me just tell you, the photo doesn’t do it justice! I’ve had so many incredible changes to, not only my physical appearance, but my mental health as well.
What you don’t see in this before and after is the mindset shift, the hard work and dedication to bettering myself inside and out, to being vulnerable to the voices inside my head that wanted things but were too afraid to ask for them.
I knew I needed to make a change but I was also scared.
Scared of failing.
Scared of judgement.
Just plain scared.
I had to shut off that voice. I had to turn its volume down. Picture turning the volume down on a radio, that’s what I did to the negative thoughts. Turned those down and the positive ones up!
Instead of thinking the worst case scenario I started to think, “Best case scenario”.
I look at my progress as a process. Plain and simple. I have goals for myself to keep me accountable but I also practice self-care daily. I do meditation exercises, I see a therapist weekly, I meal prep so that I never have to worry about what to eat or eating something unplanned, and I workout because it makes me feel good mentally, physically, and emotionally.
What can you do today to practice self-care?
Here’s some other ways I practice self-care:
- Taking a bubble bath with epson salt
- Lighting candles
- Playing French Jazz music
- Getting a manicure
- Drinking a cup of coffee/tea
Let me know how you practice self-care I’d love to get some new ideas!
