Every month I like to set aside some time to write out my goals for the month, budget my bills out, and track where my weight is at. It gives me the chance to view my progress and to set some goals for the next 4 weeks.
We’re just two months out from the New Year and for once, I am actually looking forward to it! Usually I feel like I’m not where I want to be by the year’s end.
There’s always that list that gets thrown together:
- Lose 10 pounds by NYE
- Save money
- Go out less
- Drink more water
- Eat healthier
The thing that I didn’t notice until I started tracking my monthly goals and taking time to reflect on them is that I have already began achieving a majority of them!
For the past few months I have been creating new monthly sheets to keep myself on track. I found a free monthly calendar template that I print out 2 copies of every month. I’ve included a link to some Free Printable Calendars
On one, I fill out my upcoming bills, the dates I get paid, any upcoming activities like a birthday or concert, and also I list on the side I list how much the balance is currently. This is a great way for me to see each month how much I’m spending/saving!
The second calendar I track my weight. I write down my beginning weight at the start of the month and also my goal for the end of the month. I’m very visual (if you couldn’t tell) so I like to see my progress mapped out in front of me. I’m also a huge believer in weighing myself daily. When I started out losing weight I hated recording my weight especially if it went up. What I’ve found is that by recording my weight I can better analyze what is causing me to fluctuate or remain the same. I also started recording any activities like birthday parties/dinners or concerts, anything that I knew would make my weight change. This helped me stay accountable for what I was doing each week that lead to my successful weight loss!
When you start to fill your calendar out with your goals and intentions for the week it leads to you planning out everything else! I started scheduling workouts with a trainer and then because of that I had to schedule my Pilates classes around that, then I started planning out my own workouts or nights that I was going to rest, and my boyfriend and I have a weekly date night on Friday so I knew those nights were unavailable! Once you start planning out one area everything else starts falling into place!
When you take the guess work out of what each month is going to look like it makes it easier to go into each week knowing how much money you can spend, what bills are due, what events you have coming up, and how often you plan to work out!
I’ll post my weekly routine in another post but for now, this gets me excited for a new month! My goals may change but my mindset is still the same!
And one more thing – it is absolutely okay if your goals change throughout the month or even week! This is for YOU to keep track of your goals and your values!
Let me know in the comments how you like to plan out your month!
