Look Good AND Feel Good?

Fashion starts with the foundation of the body, mind, and soul.
You can not be beautiful on the outside unless you are on the inside.

No one ever really talks about what it takes to exude the overall package. So many people are willing to settle for the image of the girl in the Instagram post but no one wants to think about what it took to create that look.

No one looks at the bigger picture.

When you get dressed in the morning, whether to go to work, to run errands, to meet friends for breakfast, etc., you are presenting yourself to the world via the statement of what you are wearing. What you wear is a direct reflection of who you are and what message you are telling society.

I’ve been on this kick lately about wanting to create a Capsule Wardrobe in my closet but I keep thinking about all the clothes I have that I currently don’t fit into or that don’t sit on me just right and it made me realize that it’s not about the clothes but it’s about how I feel in my body while wearing clothes that makes me want new clothes. It’s very backwards.

I look at pictures on Pinterest of all the outfits I wish I could wear to work and it isn’t so much about the models being skinny or the clothes being expensive but it’s about the look of confidence they exude. I want to look and feel confident in my clothes and I also know that I’ve gained some weight in the last year and that instead of putting a band aid on the problem and buying larger fitting clothes I need to look at myself in the mirror and really focus on what areas I want to improve so I too can exude that outer confidence I see in these images.

Just as with any go-to makeup look, the trick starts with a good skin care regime, with any fashion look the trick is body confidence.

My plan is to start making small changes that will contribute to better health and feelings towards myself and then begin a workout plan that will help me to tone areas of my body that I want to show off and use that as a way of testing some of the clothes that have gotten a little too snug.

I’m a true believer in the “Look Good, Feel Good” mentality and I know that if I can start working out and losing some of the extra pounds I will start to feel good about myself and that will give me the energy and determination to succeed in my job, relationship, and overall!

This is not the beginning of some pact I’m going to make where I tell everyone to watch me in the next 30 days but this is more of a commitment to myself.

Follow or don’t follow it doesn’t affect me one way or the other!
